I’ve been wanting to add more content related to lifestyle onto the blog as I personally believe that how we live has as much of an impact on our overall health as how we eat. And don’t take me in a wrong way, the nutrition side of things is super important, but when we are also focusing on other areas of our life (physical, mental, emotional, etc.), we can optimize things that much more.

We try to be nice to everyone around us except ourselves, taking care of their needs but often forget about ourselves. Most of us stay late in the office, offering a helping hand to colleagues, but we seem to forget we need a rest too. And every time, we let our family decide where to go for a holiday, but we seem to forget there is a place we have been longing for.

But no one will realize our actual need when we don’t speak up. And we will get to know that no one, not even ourselves, is taking care of our actual needs as we are so busy taking care of others.

There is a day come when you eventually feel exhausted. So, sometimes, there is a need for you to learn to care about yourself.

I don’t know about you, but I’m overexcited by thinking about it! This self-care series is going to be a really fun to write. And putting together all the concepts in one place, and I think it’s going to really help you!

Here’s how it works: each Monday we’ll be talking about some form of self-care practice. It could be a recipe for understanding your feelings, it could be how to start a meditation practice, and it could be about creating a morning routine. Actually, the options here are endless, and the only thing it won’t be about? Food.

It will be going to be a lifestyle-based series that I know you are going to learn a TON from! And for this informative article, I’m totally open to your feedback, so let me know how you’re feeling as we go and if you have any topics you want to address/dive deeper on, I’m all years.

What Is Self-Care?

Well, if you’re totally new to the concept of self-care which you are, I thought it might be helpful to “define” this term for you. The reason I put the word “define” in quotes is that there are many ways of looking at the concept of self-care. And after a given a quick Google search, here are a few definitions I found on the search engine:-

  • “any activity that we do deliberately in order to take care of our mental, emotional, and physical health.”Psych Central

Essentially I like to think of the concept of self-care you are doing for YOU and your health and wellbeing.

Loving Others is Essential Part, But Don’t Forget To Love Yourself

You might be wondering what is self-care? Let me describe it for you – It is a concept about maintaining a healthy relationship with your own self, in other words, self-love.

Sometimes we try our best to fulfill the needs of everyone around us but forget about ourselves. But what this concept of self-care actually means is to be conscious about our own needs, both mental and physical.Eating quality healthy foods, exercising daily, meditating, journaling. These are all self-care practices you can do.

This concept is essential for us in improving our well-being and quality of life. And during the actual process, we do whatever is best for our body, to satisfy our needs and desires. It helps us avoid fatigue, stress, anxiety, and worry. And to put it simply, self-care makes us feel satisfied and happy for. The ultimate goal of this concept is to maintain good physical and mental health. And with this concept, we will be more able to help and support others, and so we will have more healthy relationships with others.

Self-care also teaches us to give ourselves a need break off from the tiring work. And this might ultimately help us to attain a work-life balance.

With lots of things happening in today’s society, it’s easy for anyone to get lost in the swing of things. Work, social media, digital streaming media, and family obligations keep our schedules packed. And, of course, our stress levels maxed and leave little room for us. To enjoy our life to the fullest.

When we do not manage our time properly to care for ourselves, it can have an impact on our overall health. The concept of self-care helps us maintain a healthy relationship with ourselves and others too. And it also helps to boost self-esteem, self-confidence, and positive feelings. And there is no one who doesn’t need more positive vibes in their life?

This concept is also considered one of the best ways to manage stress. And we’re going to talk all about stress in a future MCS (Self-Care Monday), but the amount of stress that most of us are under these days isn’t good for us. It affects our immune system, our digestive systems, our hormones, our mental and emotional health, and more to go. And practicing a little self-care can do HUGE things for your stress levels. And it will ultimately help you feel good about yourself.

How do we practice self-care in a rightful way? There’s really no one-size-fits-all approach. And it can look different for each and every person and can even differ for you day-by-day. To help you get started on the self-care train, I’ve put together a list of self-care ideas to inspire you!

  • You have to minimize people-pleasing. Unless you really want to do this. There is no responsibility for you to please anyone.
  • You have to speak your thoughts. And not be afraid to say what you really think. No one will understand you unless you talk openly.
  • Be patient with yourself and with others. You have to understand that it will take time for everything to happen. And it takes time to quit a habit or to change something. Don’t rush like an idiot.
  • Keep yourself free from restrictions imposed by others. You can take them as advice instead of commands. And you’re the only one who is in control of your mind and body.
  • It is good for you to share your past. And no matter it’s wonderful or awful. You have to accept it as it is because it is something that is responsible for whatever you are now.
  • You have to honor your emotions. And admit them as they are and never try to hide them. They are gifts.
  • Telling others about your expectations from them. People might actually fail to yo. But it is fine to let them know about your expectations so that both of you can adjust.
  • Keep some room for yourself. And no matter what kind of relationship you are in, the most important thing is the relationship with yourself. work on it.
